Still on the schedule remains George (my neighbor with cancer who can't leave the house), some dear friends, some friends from the old 'hood, The Donahue Botanical Gardens (where we play the $100,000 Pyramid), and still more friends. Sheesh, there doesn't seem to be enough days off to see everyone we want to.
That's what I love about that week between Christmas and New Year's--all the going from house to house, laughing and visiting with everyone we hold dear. Why is it that we don't make the time the rest of the year? Seems odd, doesn't it? What is it about the holidays that we just have to be with the folks we love most?
Aw, who cares? I'm glad that we do it--whatever the reason. What a lovely time Christmas is--to remind us to contact those we love and to make that extra effort to see each other.
Gotta run--there's a party somewhere I gotta be. Hope you are doing the same, enjoying your time off and seeing those you love.
Hobbes is recovering from having all those visitors over at the house. He's got a permanent "crinkle ear" and a bit of a cranky attitude over all that fussing over him. He's more of a family guy and not much of a socializer. Funny, isn't it, for how popular he is here??!

I spent the late morning with George Clooney then came home and programmed my Ipod. Hobbes looks happier than I have been these last few days.
Have a fun weekend then give my boy a hug for me until his ear crinkles!
sounds like you still have quite a lot of busyness going on. we have been snowed in since the 24th and i'm starting to get cabin fever, lol. i'm going to try and get out today just to get some fresh air. have a wonderful day my friend, and remember to take time for yourself in all of your busyness...hugz!
Poor Hobbes...he looks like my cat, Charity...that crinkley ear is just too funny!
I am also on a Holiday Hangover..It's called too much eggnog and sugar cookies! HA! )
Have a great weekend. It is snowing here and I don't plan to go anywhere! I am going to sit in front of this computer, in my Pjs, with a nice hot cup of java and NOT GO ANYWHERE! HA! :)
Helene--Ooooh, George Clooney??! Sounds good! Last night, I had the crinkle ear while we had company over. Funny, Hobbes was having a blast.
PJ--Snow in already?! Ugh. I'd have to bundle up and get outside for a bit. Sometimes it helps brighten your mood. Hope it helps!
A. Marie--I like your plan of hunkering down. Sounds like a good one--I'm gonna join you!
Sounds like you still have plenty of holiday celebrating yet to do. Hope you have a great time! The sun is shining here for the second day in a row so we'll take advantage of that for sure.
Hobbes' crinkle ear could be caused by the antlers. Just sayin!
I've got a spending hangover and jealousy. My fault completely. Yesterday at MIL's I felt like Burt from "Soap", snapping my fingers trying to make myself reappear, but it just didn't work. (Sigh) Mah nishtana. I just never learn.
One of these days I'll take Anastasia up on being the designated driver and maybe I'll actually enjoy the visit. (Either that or I'll be so schnockered I just won't care.)
That's what we're doing this next week, too! We spent Christmas day with family and tonight we have a mini reunion with old high school friends. We're going to the restaurant where hubby and I had our very first date 26 years ago! Enjoy your gatherings - wishing you all a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year! (by the way, where did 2009 go?!)
Love his reindeer helmet! Weird yes, because I consider that week sacred to me. Haha...I make time for everyone else the rest of the year and need a break! So once family visiting is done I shut myself up in my house and do just what I want!
Enjoy all the friends:)
I ate WAY too much, oh my. I am back to strictly counting my weight watchers points THIS morning before I explode. As to ginger - This is the first year she isn't all that bothered by guests because she can't hear that well anymore. So the door opening, the bell...the noises are all absent or dulled to her. In fact if she's upstairs she doesnt even know we have guests unless I go get her. It's not really sad, its kind of a good thing for her... shes never liked company all that much. She now thinks no one comes over and shes really good with that :)
Hobbes does NOT look happy there. Have fun at all your parties my friend. Just think of me as you go. I will be painting.
How did you ever get Hobbes to sit still for that pic LOL
Beaded Tail--The weather sounds nice there. We have giant fluffy snowflakes coming down today--it is lovely! Uh, no, that's the Crinkle Ear in action. He's done that since the day we got him--I can spot it a mile away. That's Hobbes being really mad.
Lola--Don't you love holidays? Ugh.
Split Rock--Well, it sounds like you've got a lot of fun places to go too! Love the "Love" Restaurant visit! Awwwwwww.
Nancy--I get that! I come out of hiding only for those I really want to see. Enjoy the silence!
Tracy--I kind of like Ginger's attitude. I'm going to adopt the selective hearing and visiting--she's one smart dog! I am forever on Weight Watchers, but I do the Core program.
Pricilla--Yeah, but your painting gets you closer to moving in! How exciting!! When do you think you'll be in?? And no, Hobbes is NOT happy with that thing on his head.
Grace--We didn't! He dodged away right after I snapped. He ran, we chased, and when we finally caught him, we took the photo by the tree with me. By that point, he was stinky mad!
That little dude looks like he got into the egg nog. Hope you had a good one!
Sounds like fun a fun week!
Hobbes does appear to be a bit disgruntled though.
Wow! You did it! You actually put antlers on Hobbes! Great shot!
Maybe I can get Calle Cat to dress up like Captain Jack Sparrow!
That's what I wanted to do for Halloween -- a cat-pirate! You can see how behind I am... I am so bad at meeting a deadline!
Hugs
Anna
Sounds nice to visit the people you care about. Just found out this week that a very good friend's husband has cancer- it's bad. I feel really bad for her.
I love that look on the face of Hobbes. Maybe it's the antlers. I had the same kind for my old dog, and she hated them with a passion.
OMG! I can't believe you got Mr. Cranky to wear the antlers and pose for the pic. I love it!!!
I am currently recovering from the holidays. Totally maxed out on family for a little while!
I do love it, but then I can't wait to sit at home and do nothing... It may just be the best part! :)
It's always run, run, run. But there is no avoiding the fun at Christmas. :)
LOL I can't believe those antlers stayed on long enough for you to get a picture!
DG--I think it was us that got into the egg nog and thought this a good idea! We were lucky to escape with our lives.
Rebecca--Disgruntled is a nice way of putting it! Yeah, what started out as a good idea, really wasn't. :)
Anna--This is where we started the night we took the photo of Hobbes and I. By the time we got to the tree, he was fuming! We quickly gave up on taking photos, needless to say. I like the pirate idea--good luck!
Sharky--Oh, I'm sorry to hear about your friend and her husband. What terrible news, especially at the holidays. I hope you can go to be with them.
Ratty--Here's the clue: If humans are cracking up at the pet store buying them, pets will HATE them. So much for dignity, right?
Veronica--He wasn't "posing" per se. He was just sort of in his basket napping when we whipped them on his head and started snapping away. He was infuriated. Uh, there weren't many more photos after this one, needless to say.
Cute--Yeah, I get it. It's that mix of "let's get together" and "oh, god, we have to get together". I'm with you on that.
Todd--Yep. Lot's of running, eating, drinking, and socializing. It's fun, but exhausting too. Welcome, new pally!
Storm--I was lucky to escape with my arm! Yeah, we won't be doing THAT again.
Lol.. Lin, you such a meanie , make Hobbes wearing that cute reindeer thing ahahahaha... And his expression is priceless...
Hobbes is funny. I think that's one thing I miss about being near family and friends from my hometown. There isn't so much visiting, partying and such. It can be quite lonesome and I often forget it's the holiday season.
I am impressed he kept the antlers on. Usually Santa's reindeer don't let themselves be seen.
Having family around with the kids has been fun for sure this year. Seeing the kids play with their cousins who are the same age was pretty cool, everyone is finally upright and walking/running so they can keep each other entertained for a second or two.
Vanilla7--Well, if it is any consolation, he only had it on for about 3 seconds.
Petula--It's nice for about 3 days and then you pretty much want to murder everyone. Nothing like having the "nice" neighbors over on Christmas day, digging around stirring up trouble. Sigh.
Merry--Oh, he was like this for about 3 seconds.....MAX! He was outta there when he saw those bad boys coming towards him.
Casey--Playing with the cousins is a hoot. Gees, I have some fond memories of being put in the basement as a kid with all of the cousins because we made too much noise. Wild times down in the basement. LOL!
Hobbes, Hobbes. How I love thee.
Emily saw his picture (we had to zoom, natch) and she said, "That kitty looks cuddly. Do you think he'd cuddle in your arms?"
And I said, Yes. Yes I do!
