Toasting the Underside

I looked out the family room window the other day and saw this:

No, Hobbes is not dead, he was sunning himself--you know, like all cats do....out in the yard, all by himself, belly up, not a care in the world.  The birds don't bother him.  Yip Yap, the Non-Stop Barking Dog doesn't faze him in the least.  Even the cold temps don't tempt him to go back inside.  Nope. Nothing beats warm sunshine according to him.

I went out with the orange guy for a bit and was happy to see the yard coming back to life.  Green seems to be popping up under the mulch, crocus are blooming, and the trees are starting to bud.  It's a good thing to see spring again, I've missed it so.  It's amazing what slumbers under 20 inches of snow, isn't it?

Joe fired up the pond over the weekend and I was excited to hear the waterfall again.  I'm not sure where all the frogs are, but only a few have popped up.  I'm beginning to wonder if our male scares the smaller frogs away or into hiding.  The pond is a continuous learning opportunity and one that never ceases to amaze and amuse me.

I have officially put away my winter coat--it's my personal rebellion to all things cold and snowy. Okay, so I'm freezing my hiney off in my spring coat--it  just puts me in the mood for spring.  I've joined forces with Hobbes and we are enjoying every minute of the warm sunshine.

I'm not ready to sun my belly just yet though.

I love those first days of spring when you lay out in the yard with the sun beating down on your face... heaven!

Smart cat. Right now we'll take all the sunshine (and warmth) we can get!

Oh... to be a cat!
Glad to hear that everything is warming up in your neck of the woods. I have moved my winter clothes down to the spare closet, and brought up the Spring /Summer wardrobe....now just waiting for that 3 feet of snow outside my window, to melt!

Hmn...lookin good Hobbes! Just noticed your new watermarks on the photos- lovely idea:) So...are you gonna do anything else with that name????

Also- book club update- I've put Hotel on hold at the library but it's been a week and a half with no sign of anyone returning their copies. Hrmph. I really, really want to participate!!! (and do need to stick to my new vow of book buying no more!) So maybe I'll be pulling a few all nighters. Do you find it to be a quick read so far?

I'd love to laze in the warm sunlight. It's cold and rainy here today. Good ole Hobbes gotta love the guy.

I would love be like Hobbes right now. My sunshine needs to be accompanied by at least 70 degree weather though.

Glad you clarified Hobbes status. He really just lays out, doesn't he!?

Jennifer--Me too. I guess that is why he makes me laugh when he does that. :) I get it, Hobbes.

Vanilla--He is smart until the sun goes down and he refuses to give up and come inside. I swear he is waiting for the sun to come back out.

Daisy--And Hobbes has a BIG undercarriage!

Grace--That he does. :)

Lydia--Yeah, liberating and still a little cold! EEEK!

Hot Rocks--Oh my! I haven't put away my winter things yet, but I have dug out a spring cardigan to liven it up a bit. It's just nice seeing spring colors.

Pricilla--Again???! Criminy. Enough with the snow on Pricilla, Mother Nature!!

Betty--Uh....yeah/no, Betty. I love ya, but I don't think I want to see that. ;)

Violet--It's heaven to all of us at this point! Bring on the warm!

Katherine--Mine used to, but it's getting flabby with the years and I think my two piece days are over. :(

Nancy--I finally put a meter on my blog and I see how many people are coming here because of my photos. I didn't want to use my blog name on there, but I did want to protect some of my photos---like someone might use them. Yeah/no. It is a quick read--IF I can find the time to read it. I hope you can read it in time!

Chuck--He is a goof! He looks like a dog out there. I 've never seen a cat do that out in the yard.

Ann--Yeah, it's still cold here in spite of the warm sun. I'm ready for the 70's too.

Sharky--He lays out there like a dog--it is the strangest thing! I was laughing just watching him out there.

I let out a little delighted laugh as soon as I saw the picture. I knew exactly what Hobbes was doing.

I miss having cats outside. Love the "sunning" photo.:)
Dang...I live in NW GA and I am not letting go of my warm coat. We have Blackberry Winter weather yet to arrive.

I needed a smile and Hobbes made it happen! Hope all your frogs are okay.

Hobbes has the right idea. You know, a tan makes you look thinner -- maybe that's what he's going for? Not that he's a big boy or anything... Nah.

Lin said...

Ratty--We ALL know what he is doing because we all wish WE were doing it too. :)

Jean--He is only outside when we are home, so his wings are clipped a bit. But he still has his chances to think he is a wild cat out there!

Beaded Tail--He is so darn goofy. I'm not sure what is with the frogs, and I'm sort of worried. I actually brought one big guy in to help him--I don't think he's going to make it. He is too skinny and not eating and I'm not sure if they are still hibernating, if they are sick (we had a fungus go through one year and kill everyone) or if he didn't fatten up enough and is starving. :( I am sad.

Cute--Nah, not a bit!! Hahahaha! I've never seen a tan ottoman before. ;)

It think it is time to move from the winter purse to the spring purse. I can't wait.

Highway--I'm with ya on that one!! Hahaha! I bought an off white purse this year, so I think I have to wait a bit for mine. :(
