It's fuzzy because I was laughing so hard. Joe was trying on shoes, which is a major event...IF you are Joe. May is busy enough, but add in the fact that Joe needs some shoes, and we've got us a major ordeal.
He is the kind of guy who waits until he's got holes in his shoes before he starts to shop. And then he has these ridiculous expectations and style requirements before he'll finally settle on something for his feet. He's so darn persnickety that its a freaking miracle the man isn't walking around in his socks. Sheesh. It's like taking Goldilocks to go find shoes--and I said so.
These shoes are too pointy.
These shoes are too square.
These are too brown.
These are too black.
These shoes are too big.
These shoes are too small.
These shoes are too dressy.
These shoes are too hip.
My patience was done for when he asked if they had saddle shoes. Yep--saddle shoes. Homeboy is not a fashion plate, if you haven't already gotten that. And no, we didn't look for saddle shoes--even if they are back on the market, unbelievably.
After a longer than expected shoe shopping outing, we finally settled on a snappy new pair of dress shoes AND some new casual ones as well. Killed two birds with one stone, thank goodness--I am spared shoe shopping with Joe for another few years.
And now, along with his snappy new shoes, Joe is sporting some snappy new blisters on the back of his feet. Apparently Goldilocks thought it was a good idea to walk 8 city blocks in his new shoes. Ugh.

yay! A Joe post!
I'm kind of like Joe. I don't go shoe shopping until I absolutely have to. I hate shoes.
I know....
I'm a female anomaly. ;)
xo Catherine
Funny...sounds a lot like my husband ;-)
I don't remember the last time we actually went into a store to buy my husband shoes...He wears a 15Wide and we have been quite successful in getting his shoes on-line.
(If the shoes are giving him blisters right out of the box that doesn't bode well for future comfort. You may be going shoe shopping again soon!)
Are you making fun of Joe? *teehee*
It was pointed out to me yesterday that my shoes have holes in the soles. :(
SAS forever!
Himself has two feet that aren't exactly the same size, so I take him to a shoe store that also does repairs and adjustments so they can stretch out the one just a wee tiny bit. I lack that womanly shoe-gene. I
would wander the earth in Birkenstocks forever if I could get away with it. With socks. So I appreciate that we can support a local business AND get help from someone who knows/cares!
Saddle shoes? What the...???
I hate shoe shopping too. However, when I do find a pair I like, I tend to buy two of them so I don't have to go through the trauma more than once. Or I'll order the same pair online. What a godsend. Try 'em on once, get 'em online as long as they still carry them. I love you Internet shopping!
I really don't like shoe shopping with HOB, but without me he ends up with plastic shoes that look like something a dead man would wear.
The hubby does not like shoe shopping either.
When I worked - oh did I have me some shoes. Now? It's all about what is goat proof.
*sigh*
LOL, my son is the same way. I would have to build up on vitamins and extra naps before I would take that child on a shoe shopping adventure.
My husband "forgets" and wears his good shoes out to work in the garden. THEN he won't throw them out until they begin to come apart. He does, however, go to the same store and buy an identical pair of good shoes to wear for dress.
Oh gosh Lin, it sounds as frustrating as shoe shopping with my husband. No wait, you get the cake - saddle shoes? Really! LOL He's a hoot!
He's that picky? I don't know that I could have even gone along then!
I'm pretty sure my husband doesn't even know what saddle shoes are! But he enjoys shoe shopping for sneakers whereas I hate shoe shopping, totally.
That sounds like a shoe shopping trip with Wade. He's pretty picky too but I know he would never wear a pair of saddle shoes...lol
Hmmmm---Joe in his saddle shoes and you and I in our matching skirts--what a special family. Phyl
I'm kinda like that...
Men and shopping...just doesn't go together. I have to drag my husband out to get new clothes, and then I have to pick everything out, then hang out while he tries it on to be sure it fits right...OMG its a nightmare!
LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG,this is why I love Joe, why I love you! Men don't understand the value of updating style. My mister thinks once youbuy shoes you can wear them for life. The girls and I forced him to buy 2 new pairs in a year and a half. He refers to his brown loafers as his "pimp shoes" and his square toe black lace ups as his "flippers". And if we would let him pair his stylish shoes with a Harley T-shirt and Lee jeans he'd be in trailer ark heaven. LOL We'd be in hell.
Helene--Criminy. Do I have to start We Love Joe Mondays?
Catherine--REally?! How do you hate shoes??! :( That's weird, Catherine. I need to take you shopping.
Duni--I think they are all the same, Duni!
Grace--He has a really long walk to work from the train. AND he walks fast, so I don't think that was a good judge of his dress shoes. I don't think any of my work shoes could pass that test either. 15 wide???! Wow.
Vanilla--You had to hear my Goldilocks voice in the shoe store--Joe was not laughing for some reason. Sheesh. Do I have to take you shoe shopping too???!
Shieldmaiden--What is with you and Catherine and shoes???! Criminy. I LOVE shoes and purses. Purses ALWAYS fit. :)
Kathy--That's what I said!! And yes, saddle shoes are back in again. Ick. I think there is a secret society of shoe haters forming here. What is with you people???!
Betty--And that would be why I went with Joe. I have to help him with clothes too--which I hate. Why can't men buy their own clothes???
Pricilla--Goat proof and poop proof! :) I love shoes. I can't wait for summer as I have a few new pairs of sandals. Hooray!
Highway--It's a boy thing--big and small. Why do we have to convince them to buy shoes??? Nobody has to convince me! ;)
Marilynne--Men are goofy. Joe gets really frustrated because he wants the same pair of shoes over and over again. And that is what the big battle is--they don't make them anymore!!!
Storm--He actually owned a beige pair when I met him. I think I waited a few weeks before I made him ditch them. There is NO going back....
Violet--But you should see what he comes home with!! It's scary. Or he comes home empty-handed. Ugh.
Beaded Tail--What is with the pallies and hating shoes???! You guys never cease to amaze me. I LOVE shoes!
Ann--Joe had a pair of saddle shoes when I met him and he keeps wanting to go back. Although that may be just to annoy me.
Phyl--We are some snappy dressers!
Sharkey--Sheesh. The shoe-haters club is officially started here at the Duck and Wheel.
Hot Rocks--No kidding! I have to do the same thing!! What is with that!! Ugh. And Joe keeps going back to outdated styles which drives me crazy. Ugh.
Diana--I'm glad you are enjoying this, pally! ;)
Saddle shoes for men???? Um...glad you didn't go in that direction!
No saddles? you're a saddle-pooper!
OMG I am laughing at Joe buying shoes...that is SOOO Bill buying flippin slippers...it took him at least 6 months to buy just the right pair!!!!
Jodi--And this is why it takes FOREVER to find clothes and shoes for him--he continues to look for fashions that he wore 20 years ago! Ugh. Men are idiots sometimes.
Nancy--NOT kidding. They really do sell brown saddle shoes. Not the white and black, but still....
Tracy--Tracy, I have to be SEEN with this man in public.
Tracy--What is with that???! Criminy.
I feel with Joe! I only buy shoes when I really, really need. Since two years I only buy ballerinas by Salando, so I don't have to go in a shoe shop... Ugh.
