While I love these long weekends, you know I'm gonna be spending the rest of the week trying to figure out what day it is. Tuesday is gonna feel like Monday and Wednesday is like Tuesday......and so on. The only good day is gonna be Friday because we are all gonna be thinking it's Thursday and then whammo!--it's really the end of the week. Hooray! I'm gonna like that part.
I had a good weekend away from the computer. I did a bit of catching up, but I was doing more living than anything else. I think that is a good thing--I mean, I actually got a gym shoe on my bad foot and went for a bike ride yesterday. That whole broke-foot thing is a bummer for summer walks and bike rides. But I think I'm back in action again. Another hooray.
We had friends over for dinner, we went to the beach, AND we spied a cabillion baby fish in the pond. Oh--I also managed to take a photo of our new little frog. It is very tiny indeed--about the size of a man's thumb. And he's awfully fast--zipping away before I utter the second syllable of "oooooohhhhhhh" when I see him. By the time I call Joe or Em to come look at him--he's long gone, which is kind of a bummer.
Can you believe the 4th of July is over??! Wow. Summer is flying by us in super-fast lightning speed. I need some of those slow days of my youth. Remember sitting on the sidewalk or the curb being bored? Remember waiting for your friends to come out to play and then discussing how bored you were? Yeah, me too. I wanna be bored again.
I'm still checking off all of those things I want to do this summer--I think this may just be the summer I do it all. I certainly hope so. But in the meantime, I'm sure having fun trying.

I won't be having half another day off after all as they were to come back last night. So come on Friday.
Cute little frog-I saw him.
How come no one invents a 5 day weekend with a 2 day work week??? We have it backwards I think. ;)
xo Catherine
Aww, isn't he cute?
With age, the span of a summer becomes an ever decreasing portion of one's lifetime. At least that's my theory of why time seems to flit by so quickly. Years ago, I forgot how to be bored. Every moment can be rich and full if you will observe, think about what you see and what you'd like to see. There's always a poem to write or a blog post to compose.
I could barely see him with all those leaves (I am sure he likes it that way). I have the same problem with a long weekend, I never know what day it is.
Glad your foot is better, glad you're having fun...
Eep...I know what you mean! It is just flying by- I'm kind of wishing it by so that this wedding can be over and done with and then I have some time to refocus on what I actually need to do again. Other people's weddings are just too much! Glad you all are packing in so much fun, that's great! Say hi to the new little frogie for me!
Do kids these days still have those long boring days like we did? With computers, video games and AC...I bet we were the last to have those wonderful boring days!( yes I was born before AC,lol not really)
Didn't I see something about gimlets on your facebook page?
They will help a weekend fly by....
Helene--Friday is gonna be quick, Helene! Hold on!!
Catherine--I would want to work a 2 day week but get paid for 5. Can we work that out somehow??
Vanilla--He is VERY cute! And so wee.
Chuck--I just want to lay on the hammock and let my mind rest instead of thinking of all that I have to do. You are right--even while I'm resting, I'm thinking of posts. Sigh.
Anne--Those little frogs are hard to spot because they hide so well. I found a little froglet out there last night too--thank goodness for the flashlight. :) Today is TUESDAY, just so you know.
Grace--It IS better! Hooray! But I just want to be done with it all and this darn boot.
Nancy--You are no sooner going to finish this wedding and you'll be planning your own. Yikes! Just remember to enjoy it all. The frog said "hi" back. :)
Melodie--Remember when your mom would boot your butts outside and we just wandered ALL day? If you wanted a drink, you drank out of the hose. Lunch was a PB & J sandwich handed to you out the door. Why do I miss that so much?
Lin, I'm happy you had a nice time for the long weekend. I'm with you... it's been Monday here all morning.UGH LOL Big Hugs!
I'm glad you're getting more mobile again. Your weekend sounds pretty great, I gotta say.
I always feel like summer is slipping away after the 4th. I guess it's because once August rolls around, it seems like we're all just gearing up for fall again.
It is going super fast - I can't believe July is here. :( I want it to slow down!
I'm glad you had a good weekend and that your foot is better too! We went on a hike in the forest and came across a little pond that had tadpoles in it. I hadn't seen a tadpole since I was a kid so I got really excited because I was thinking of them becoming frogs! My husband thought I was nuts. :) Tomorrow is my Friday already too!
Retirement is boring sometimes but at least the weather is finally nice. I had to enlarge the picture to see froggy. He was smiling.
Its hard to believe its july already - I mean, so soon?
I would love to go back to those lazy days of summer of long ago. Boy I miss those.
I'm going to be all messed up on the day this week too but you're right. Friday is going to be great :)
i know- we were just barely getting into spring and now its high summer. hot
I know what you mean about the days being mixed up. It really doesn't help that I found a "Wordless Wednesday" post up tonight already. I'm thinking, "What? this is only Tuesday!"
Pricilla--It's officially the "Summer of the Gimlet", I've decided. But I don't drink them to excess, just one or two every now and then. YUM!
Katherine--I think these weeks have a way of being really, really long. I hope not!
Violet--After the 4th, vacation comes and band camp. Once band starts--it's over. :( So, yeah, I'm with you--it's gonna be over too fast!
Storm--No kidding! Can we have a pause button please??!
Beaded Tail--Oh wow! What a great find!! I love the promise of things to come in tadpoles. :) What is with your husband????! Sheesh. Didn't you want to bring them home???
Mary Ann--Oh, maybe I should retire then! I can't wait to be bored again. Even for a minute or two.
Tracy--Isn't it crazy?! I think we need two July's each year!! Then we can celebrate Ginger's birthday twice!!
Ann--Me too. I'll even take my scraped up knees and cruddy roller skates with the key. Heck, I'd even drink out of the hose again. :)
Sharkey--Yeah, I don't like the heat when I have to work. But it is okay when I'm on vacation and at the pool or the beach. Maybe that is what I miss about summers--being off and carefree. Sigh.
Karen--Yikes!! I had to check my calendar to make sure I don't do Hobbes Thursday tomorrow!! Hahaha!
Summer is a'flyin, you're right about that. When can we expect to see this little froggy?
