Because we have ridiculous stuff like this:
Wild Monk Parakeets flying around and hanging out at my feeder
You think you are losing it when they first appear,
but no,
they really are wild parakeets. You should see their nest over by the park.
Wow.
And then your kid yells "Hey! Look at the ducks on the neighbor's roof!"
And you are all like "Whaaaaa???"
And sure enough, there they are....
On the ROOF.
It's just ridiculous.
There they were, hanging out with the sparrows and the wild parakeets....
like it was normal or something.
Welcome to Weirdville.

You're kidding? Are those real ducks on that roof??? Strange.
LOL! We had two geese wandering across the street the other day...never seen them in our neighborhood before. It was a sight for the boys for sure! :)
Oh what fun - pretty birds, pretty trees! Enjoy
Okay, your birds are weird.
Those ducks just need a wheel & string!
The first time I saw ducks land on a roof I thought I was going crazy but they do it all the time. Silly creatures. Next best thing is watching a heron land in a tree. Not at all graceful
Wait, what? How?
I've never seen ducks on the roof before. I have some decoy geese in the front yard that I could put up there, I suppose.
I do see a wild parakeet around here now and then. Yours look like they're thriving in the wild.
So, are wild parakeets formerly cage-kept parakeets who somehow got free and are out Mary Tyler Moore-ing it in the wild, or are they some kind of native deal where you live.
(I'll give you a minute to ruminate on my question and the mental image you may or may not have of a parakeet tossing a tiny red beret in the air.)
Huh! I've always been told that those escaped parakeets couldn't survive our winters. I guess the birdies didn't read that report.
We have lots of those wild parakeets here. They are very cool!
I had no idea there were wild parakeets. Wow
We've never seen wild parakeets before! Hope the ducks found a pond somewhere!
Diane--Yep. And wild parakeets. All in a matter of minutes of each other. You'd swear it was a zoo.
Sherrie--Isn't that funny how you just see them walking around...like they were always there?? That's funny. Glad the kids saw them. :)
Grace--Oh, the redbud tree is beautiful these days!
Vanilla--The birds, the frogs, the cats, the family, the neighbors...what ISN'T weird around here??
Diana--Duck at the end of the street has moved too! He's got a new place in the yard. I'm hoping to get a photo for ya.
Patty--Really??! I was impressed when I saw photos of chickens in trees, but DUCKS on the ROOF? That is just wrong. My neighbor is completely freaked out when she sees the heron on my roof--I can only imagine what that looks like!
Silver--I know. I know. Don't ask...just go with it and laugh. That's what I do.
Marilynne--I think you should put those geese in odd places to make the neighbors wonder. :) I guess these parakeets have survived Chicago winters for years. Isn't that amazing?
Shieldmaiden--Oh, yeah! I think they came to our yard right after tossing their berets because they were nowhere in sight. But they did have on some snappy mini-dresses and flip-up hair-dos. ;) The ducks were naked.
Sharkey--I'm going to the park to snag a photo of their nest for ya, Sharkey. It is HUGE!
Daisy--Do you have ducks on your roof too?? Do you live on the south side of Weirdville???
Ann--I've heard about them, but never saw them. My mom got them at her house and now I've got 'em. They are LOUD too! It's crazy.
Beaded Tail--It is very odd to see those parakeets in the 'hood. And worse yet, they are very LOUD! I don't want the ducks here--a) they poop in the pond and b) Hobbes will wet his pants if they are in our yard!
The parakeets are beautiful! What in the heck are the ducks doing on the roof? Yep, weirdville!
I wonder if someone lost their parakeets--love the ducks on the roof! This reminds me of a book I recently read where the animals start doing crazy things like teleporting and talking. The book is GONE by Michael Grant.
Yea, your blog looks normal again for me!
Oh my, that is crazy! Never heard of wild parakeets before- but that makes for a gorgeous picture!
