I came in from work the other day and yelled a hello to Em, who was already home from school. I didn't hear a reply, so I slowly opened her door and said "hello" again. I was met with a very grumpy "hrumph mrph, mmrrr." or something similar, so I slowly did a Michael Jackson moonwalk out the door, shutting it as I eeked the hell outta there.
That apparently wasn't good enough, so she crawled outta her room and continued the mutterings and grumblings all around the house. Miffy here. Grumpy there. Slammin' this, shovin' that. If there was ever a time to turn on the invisibility, it was then.
So, I asked for it. I did the unthinkable--I asked her how her day was. BIG. MISTAKE. Huge. Stupid me.
"SHITASTIC!" she yells back at me.
Well, okay then.
I turned on my heels and walked into the kitchen to talk to Grace instead.
"Hi, Grace! How was your day? Was it 'Shitastic' too?" I followed her out the door to sit out in the grass. Apparently, she did not have a shitastic day. Actually, I think it was quite the opposite.
And this is what I learned that day: Stick with the cat, my friends. Stick with the cat.

At any rate, the Cat won't tell. She certainly looks content. The Cat, I mean.
Did Em's mama ever tell there'd be days like that? As for the cat, excellent advice there my friend--most excellent advice.
Oh yes, always the cat :)
Grace looks super cute laying on the grass, but at first I had to figure out which way her head was turning. haha
Grace is a contortionist...LOL Cats never have bad days do they:)
Yea...I don't know that cats ever have bad days;)
the reason I didn't bother having any kids..... hahhaha.....I prefer cats.... even if I can't have any now because I have a husband with severe allergies.... oh, well....it is tidy, quiet and if I need an excitement fix or an animal fix...I just drive to my sisters place. I'm always reeeellly happy to come home after 3 days ....
Ahh, poor Em - tough being a teenager, maybe she wished she could trade places with Grace for the afternoon...
Aaaah, teenagers.
You are wise to stick with the cat.
i like that saying SHITASTIC i seem to be having alot of SHITASTIC days lately , too much work and not enough fun
LOL This made me laugh, but only because I've been there. I like that word shitastic, I think I'm going to use it.
A kitty's day is way better than a teen's day every day! Cute photo of Grace having a non-shitastic day!
Vanilla--And the cat doesn't use terms like "shitastic". I love Grace best.
Chuck--I'm telling you--when you have kids, you gotta stick with the cat. It is the path of least resistance.
Duni--Poor old Grace is a bag of bones lately. I try to find the beauty in her old bod. :(
Mary Ann--It was fun to see her enjoying the sunshine and the grass. It's funny, but even though she is old--she has mostly good days.
Nancy--There aren't bad days at this house anyway. Life is good--for the kitties. NOT for Em. Hahahaha!
BumbleVee--I'll take the cats over the kids--most days. I mean, I love them, but the human kids are exhausting.
Grace--It's tough, but it's also dramatic. I think she loves the drama. Don't tell her I said that though. ;)
Patty--No kidding. Girl teens are infamously more difficult than anything on earth. Hence, the "shitastic". Ugh.
Paul--Oh Paul, pally, you need some FUN in your life. Forget the "shitastic". Call us. You and Mary need to come over and visit for some fun. :)
Ann--It is a good word, isn't it?! But don't let Emma know that we like it okay? Hee !Hee!
Beaded Tail--I love Grace. She is so cool and non-shitastic. That's why she is my favorite over the kids. :)
Oh the joy of teenagers... I remember it well my friend. Yes indeed, stick with cats.
xo Catherine
I understand shitastic!
Catherine--2 words: less drama. I love the cats best.
Diana--And teenagers. :) Ugh.
Are you just learning that, stick with the cat. LOL. Good advice. Take care.
cat vs teenage girl? You had to figure that out? You are slipping Linnie!
