Do you have a place that you'd rather be right about now? I do. I mean, who doesn't? If we have a choice, I'm sure it is not the office or stuck in traffic with 10 billion other cars surrounding you. It's not gonna be your desk working or mowing the lawn. Nope, it's gonna be someplace good.
Here is mine--it's where I like to go on vacation. I'm not giving out the location because then you are gonna wanna go and then it's gonna get all crowded and I won't be able to go square dancing and hanging out on the porch of my cabin and stuff because there are too many people. So, you will just have to imagine in your mind how really lovely this place is.
I gave this secret away to a blog friend and she and her family are gonna be down there this summer too. I hope they like it. And being that she is going through a rough patch these days, I really, really hope she finds the peace that I find there as well. There is something special about this sweet spot of the earth--the air is sweet, the sunshine is warm, and the people there are good.
I imagine myself there today--me in a comfy chair on the back deck of my cabin, cocktail in hand. Ahhhhhh. Life is good.
Okay, what's your spot?

Wouldn't it be glorious to be anywhere that we would want to be at any time? All we need is a boat load of money, and to be able to travel at the speed of light. Ya... that would be great!!
My spot would be some place quiet without a whole bunch of people. Just woodland creatures and a wonderful nearby restaurant that does all the cooking for me while I'm on vacation. :)
xo Catherine
I am content to be right here at home. I have the view, scenery and comfort that bring joy. Unfortunately, a trip to the dentist for some serious work is going to intrude on that in the very near future. :(
Well, I look out my window and I see the Rocky Mountain version of that...heh
I go to a beach in Hawaii called Honaunau - The Place of Refuge. How appropriate, right?
You can tell me where it is because I assure I would never go there...not that it isn't pretty and peaceful and all but I've never been one for the country or cabins - I'm more the 5-star hotel in a big city type of person. Sitting out on the balcony, late at night watching stars and big city lights (with the occasional plane flying low on it's way to the airport) - that's my spot!
Dangerous to disclose your location...you never know what kind of weirdos will show up. When I need a little zen, I dream of a beach (you know...one where I won't sunburn?!) or a forested area with a little babbling brook. Your place looks awfully tranquil!
I hope the beauty of your secret place helps to take your friends tough times away... or at least ease them for her.
When I'm on a beach the rest of the world disappears as does any stress or worries I may have. The ocean is a healer to me and I hope to be able to go to Patty's beach in Hawaii next year!
Awh...what a great thing to visualize! How generous of you to give away your secret;)
I live in a camper in the country so I am in in a state of Zen when I am home.:)
I don't have a special place but if I'm looking to clear away the stress it's gotta be outside, water or woods and no crowds
I found a little zen just going outside with my dog today. Forgot how relaxing playing catch with the dog can be.
Catherine--After reading about your spot, I think you'd like my spot. It's a private cabin in the woods...with a nearby lodge with a restaurant in it. So, I can cook or eat out without moving the car. :) It's also very quiet.
Chuck--Ugh, the dentist. :( I hope it goes well for you. I like that you find your joy at home. That's nice.
Patty--Oh, a nice beach in Hawaii sounds dreamy. Wish I was there!
Grace--I like the city too, but I think because we live in a big city every day, I like to escape the concrete for my days off.
Diana--I like a forest too. There is something about the smell of leaves and trees. mmmmmmmm...
Diane--Me too. :) I think I shall make her a cocktail or two to help too.
Beaded Tail--Oooh, that sounds wonderful! I hope you get there too.
Nancy--well, you run the threat of her not getting the same feel from the place like I do. But I can guarantee that there are no crowds or city traffic there. Although there are some pretty crazy chipmunks around.
Jean--JEALOUS! You live a good life, Jean. :)
Ann--I hate the concrete. I just get tired of living around concrete...and people...and cars....and neighbors.
Silver--Zen is definitely all about where your head is. I think you can find it right in your own backyard--as we can see from the comments. :)
My good spot is anywhere with a lot of trees.
I'm jealous.
This looks like a beautiful place!
My home is my zen. I bought my first home ever just a few yrs ago and every day I appreciate it so much. I am just so thankful for everything about it-the wonderful backyard, the big sunroom where my cats love to lounge, the open and spacious kitchen, the peaceful side living room-it's just my little slice of heaven.
Your spot reminds me of spending my childhood summers in the mountains of southern West Virginia where my grandparents lived. It holds a lot of tranquil memories for me. I suppose that would be my spot: top of the mountain at the 'Indian' rock ...

My spot is... Wait. You didn't tell us yours. ;-)
i am happy right here, right where i am. no place i'd rather be then home with the hubs!!
and surfing blogs and the internet!
Ratty--Yeah, and NO concrete! Me too. :)
Lola--I'm sure you have a favorite vacation spot too, right?
Kaylen--Awww, that is so nice, pally! I like that you are so happy at home. Many people are not so lucky, you know?
Red Dirt girl--Aww, that sounds sweet. Do you ever go back there?
Vanilla--Kentucky. That's as close as it's gonna get! ;)
Debbie--Aw, that is sweet! I would like home too if we didn't have idiot neighbors and our house was a bit bigger and wasn't all quirky-like.
For some reason, your photo reminds me of the Current River in the Ozarks. I used to canoe down that river and it was a very special, spiritual river. Sounds like your place moves you the same way!
