Is that a good sign or a bad one when it snows on Groundhog Day? I guess it's a matter of preference, right?
Me--I want snow and cold--and some ice in my cocktail. While everyone was moaning about the chilly temps this week, I kept reminding them of the scorching hot summer we had last year. It was too hot for too long and everyone was miserable. If it was possible to be weary of sunny skies, we were. Well, those of us without swimming pools in our backyards were, anyway.
We got a couple of inches of snow last night, which dusted the 'hood in loveliness, but doesn't really require a lot of shoveling or nasty driving. It's sort of the perfect compromise--pretty without the mess. It's good to see a white blanket tucking in the perennials and an ice layer on the pond. While everyone else may be shuddering--I'm thankful for the "winter" we are supposed to have. We live in the midwest--we are supposed to have winter for a reason.
That said, while the photo above does not represent last night's snow, there is still a very crabby orange stripey kitty who is miffed at the thought of winter. No, he's not going out the cat door. I think his love of snow went out the window with his svelte frame. Poor guy.
So, groundhog or no groundhog, I'm wishing for a few more weeks of winter.

It warmed up here. Everything melted and now it is cold again.
Again.
I give up.
We're not announcing on the blog yet b/c we still have to tell some family, but we'll soon see LOTS of snow. There's a move in our future. LOL! We'll finally have four seasons! The boys are ecstatic...me, I'm hoping I'll get used to it. Enjoy the fluffy stuff.
Well we have to disagree with you. We want Spring. We are tired of being cold. So enjoy your darn snow and keep it there with you. No need to share it. Have a super Saturday.
You made sure the snow stopped in Chicago, right?
Oh, Lin. I am so happy for you; glad you got your snow. You have waited a long time. And I am particularly glad that YOU got the snow.
oooweee ...finally! Like you say.... you need it ....
We had very warm the past few days...but, that won't last around here ...it's just a glitch ....+5C today..... with lovely blue and sunny skies...
I'm glad you finally got some snow. I may not share your enthusiasm for it but I'm still happy for you :)
Pretty snow without the mess is the BEST kind! :)
Is there REALLY a best kind of snow ???
My apologies, Lin. I was raised in the South and have lived south of the snow line for most of my life. Oh sure, when I was younger, WILDER, carefree, I wanted the white stuff. Snow. Drifts of it. I longed to live where four seasons were an actual event and not just the name of a nice hotel.
According to my workmates, it will be an early spring (I haven't checked the official groundhog site yet). Which means we will have an extra long, hot summer. Sigh. Can't we have an eternal spring ???

A few more weeks of winter would be ok with me. It's been fairly mild here, not too much snow this year, and not too many very cold days either. I just think that by the end of March, winter needs to be packing his bags and heading on outa here! However, up here inAlberta, that just is not always the case, and winter can still be overstaying his welcome into the month of May!
I think you need to move up North a bit. We are going into our 4th month of snow here in Saskatchewan. I'm very over it. LOL!

Our friend Vanilla can be very generous with his "Glad YOU got your snow comment." He has escaped the freezer and is enjoying Texas.
Looks like John and I will be in the snow removal business again today.
Okay, I know we need the moisture especially after last year's dry spell. For my part, I'd prefer rain, but not with these temperatures.
Enjoy the snow.
Yea, what's up with that this year??? It seems like it snows every other night lately, but it's the kind that's gone by mid afternoon leaving behind virtually no evidence. Boo.
I like that view of the world.
Glad you got your snow, pally!
