Wake up, eyeballs

I always start to miss color around this time of year.  Mid-winter is just olive drab in this neck of the woods. No vibrant colors, no eye-candy or loveliness to look at and enjoy.  January is all white...or brown. blech.

I miss green frogs and pink flowers.

I miss yellow goldfinches, as they are more brown in winter.

I miss orange and black monarch butterflies and red....anything red.

The purple coneflowers are cut back and slumbering under the frozen ground. I miss them too.

I miss my blue summer purse and coral-colored spring sweater.

It's like my eyeballs search and search for something bright and colorful, but as the earth wears muted shades of grays and browns....so do we. What is with that?   Maybe now is the time we ought to be putting up the Christmas lights, as we need them more now than at the holidays.

Even the colorful Mr. Cuddles is hiding under 2 inches of ice.  Sigh.

While some complain about the absence of the sun....I'm missing color.  Just some sort of color.

What do you miss most in winter?

I am so not a fan of winter. I guess I miss the long days most. I like waking up at the crack of dawn to run 5 miles and shower before my boys get up.

I miss the warmth of the sun on a spring day.

Warmth. Cold penetrates to the bone, and that's not fun.

I miss the fresh air. I keep windows and doors open as much as possible when it's warm. Winter seems so stuffy.....

Winters here are not so bad, every 5 or 6 years an epic blizzard but other than that just a couple of snow sprinkles - coupla inches at best - I need light and sun and we get that (except when it's raining and it's been raining a lot - puts me in a funk) but most of the time I wake to blue skies and green trees - so I'm good except for the few times it gets bitterly cold - I don't have seasonal clothes - I wear the same stuff year round...maybe I wear socks more often in the winter but that's about it. Probably why I like living here...

Definitely the warm. Ain't no warm in Montana in winter. Surprisingly we have been having some sun which is highly unusual.

When I was working I had a wardrobe of brightly colored wool suits. No navy and black for me. Red, royal even yellow...I'm not sure my bosses at the bank appreciated my style but my customers did. Couldn't wear dull colors.

I miss color too. That's why I get so excited when the sky is clear and blue.

If we have snow this year, I'm good. I would like more days with blue sky and snow. My bad month is March- the gray and brown with no green.

I don't miss anything until the Christmas decorations come down and then the house looks sad and bland and I feel a crushing case of the winter blues. It's the time of year that I end up shopping for colorful household accessories to punch things up.

Oh I miss the color too. The white just becomes too too much. I can't complain about missing the sun as statistically, we are one of the sunniest provinces in Canada. Very few days without sun. So that's good. But yup, it's the color.

Your green frog makes me happy. :)

We have flowers starting to pop up so they'll be blooming soon! Spring is around the corner! It stays green here all year but this year isn't quite as green as usual since we've had little rain. Never thought I'd hope for rain but I do and when it comes, I'll be missing the sunshine.

Lisa--Oh yes. Don't you love that quiet before the rest of the world wakes up? I do.

Diane--Yeah...warm sun on my back and shoulders. mmmmm.....

Vanilla--No kidding! Hobbes and I are planted in front of the fire every evening!

Alice Marie--Oh, I LOVE spring air with the windows open! And sheets dried on the line....

Grace--I'm glad you are happier there. :)

Patty--I hate the dull colors of winter clothing. :( I miss the warm too.

Catskillblogger--Isn't it amazing how good you feel when the sun comes out?

Sharkey--I'm with you--the snow is pretty. I don't like muddy March when everything is sloppy.

DG--I do the same thing! That's when I start shopping for paint! I just bought all new bedding for my bedroom. Paint is next.

Karen--Ah, yes!

Candy C--I like it to be sunny after dinner. It reminds me of being a kid and being able to go out to play after dinner.

Catherine--I don't mind the white if it is white. Dirty snow is just so darn depressing.

Katnip Lounge--Oh yes! Me too!

Ann--Yeah, the fireplace is nice, but I hate to leave its side.

Beaded Tail--You do?! You have FLOWERS???! I'm coming over...

Debbie--Isn't she cute?! I can't wait for spring and some new taddies.

I've only experienced winter twice in my entire life and only for two weeks max. I savoured every second of it!
